Young, gifted and rural!

Are you a young person involved in your rural community?

Are you a community group who has succeeded in involving young people in your work and activities?

If the answer is yes, then this event is for you!

The Scottish National Rural Network is working in partnership with the Carnegie UK Trust to explore how to get more young people involved in rural community life, and is inviting people to join them to share their ideas and experiences at this exploratory networking event.

What is this event about?

Rural community groups often express their concerns about the difficulties of getting younger people involved in their activities, and what this means for the future of their communities.

This event aims to bring together the people who have had positive experiences in this area, alongside young people who are involved in their community life, to explore what works well, and how we can develop things further.

We hope this event will be a launch pad for future work in this area, which could include the development of a best practice toolkit and a future larger networking event.

Who should attend?

1. People from community groups who have succeeded in involving young people in their work and activities, at any level, who would like to share their experiences and ideas with others.

2. Young people who are involved in their rural communities who would like to share their thoughts and experiences. In particular, why they got involved and what they think is important to consider when trying to involve more young people.

How can I attend?

There are limited places available for this event, so we are asking anyone interested in attending to complete a short online application form by 31^st August. After the application deadline we will be in touch to confirm whether you have been successful in securing a place for this event.
